Health & Safety
Farming worldwide presents a unique set of challenges to the workers involved in it. Unpredictable weather, heavy machinery, livestock, remote locations and regularly working alone creates huge risks.
Fatalities and serious injuries happen daily throughout our farming community and continue to rise as the pressures to cut costs and time increase. The saying “it will never happen to me” has been said or thought by us all at some stage, until it does.
TFU are dedicated to addressing health and safety on our farms, not to create more red tape or hassle but to stop the unnecessary loss of people in our industry and to stop serious accidents occurring.
TFU has set out 3 core aims under Health and Safety
reduce the amount of fatalities on farm
Provide free equipment and reward that protects farmers who use it
Protects farmers and industry workers from increasing legal accountability.
It is impossible to prevent every accident or remove all the hazards that farming has to contend with, however, it is possible to implement workable policies that do not impact on the running of the farm or cost our farmers more money without any benefit.
Look out for updates from policy leads who are experts in workable health and safety solutions and use your votes to provide your thoughts on anything that is proposed in the group.
